10th June, 2026Meet the team behind Queensgate
28th May, 2026A statement from Interested Parties
Beverley Housing Charity hosted an early engagement event for local allotment holders about the proposed Queensgate development. Representatives from Haysom-Ward-Miller Architects and Lindum Group joined the charity to present the proposed designs and gather feedback on the housing scheme.
We were delighted with the number of people who attended. Together with several one-to-one sessions held earlier in the week with directly affected allotment holders, this feedback will inform the overall design for our Board to consider before deciding whether to proceed with a full planning application.
Attendees raised concerns about access and the proposed relocation of some allotments. Representatives of Beverley Housing Charity and its development partners, including architect Roway Haysom and Andy Gardner of Lindum, responded to many of the issues raised. They also acknowledged that any development would cause some disruption during construction.
The team also outlined the proposed benefits of the development. These include the charity’s intention to improve facilities for allotment holders and provide new homes for people aged over 60 who have lived in Beverley for at least ten years. Questions at the event also highlighted demand for allotments and the number of people on local housing waiting lists, including Beverley Housing Charity’s own waiting list.
Attendees were invited to complete a feedback form after the session. Most had also registered with the charity, either before or during the event, to receive future updates.
The charity will next contact residents whose properties border the land and begin consulting development partners about the surveys needed to assess the proposal fully. The findings will inform the charity’s development committee before it makes a final recommendation to the Full Board in early 2027.
